Balintawak arnis

Balintawak comes from a historical place in the suburbs of Manila.

In early 1950s, Venancio "Anciong" Bacon founded one of eskrima great styles, the style now known by the name of Balintawak in reference to the patriotic vent of the Cry of Balintawak and the street where the club was located.

It was developed due to the feeling that the combative nature of arnis was being watered down by other styles of Philippine martial arts.

Balintawak is a rare form of Filipino martial art quite different from the better known styles of Arnis, Eskrima and Kali.

It was named after the twelve pairs of thrust and strike which could inflict great damage to the vital parts of the body.

There are a number of Balintawak groups teaching different versions of the system and most instructors use the grouping method for teaching the technique.
